My heart goes out to them. How does one live without butterpeas? Poor devils. Get your biggest pot out, I'm a fixin to senf you a mess of purple hull peas. Surely you got some seasoning meat to go in them.

Hey Prissy,
Here's you a good mess of purple hulls. It's so late that I sent them unshelled. My pea sheller is put up for the winter. Mabey ScrambledEgg will run over an help you shell them. lol Enjoy!

No kiddin!! I love to shell peas and snap beans!!!! Wow!! I ususally spring for the extra charge and buy shelled butter beans at the farmers market but snap beans are fun to pop. I love black eyed peas too and like to find them fresh and load them up with hot chow chow...you cna buy that homeade in the farmers market too..I love to can salsa and have a really nice pressure canner (my friends ragged me so bad that Christmas I asked for and got a nice canner, lol!!) but I've never made chow chow. Love it though...would be good on that basket of peas you have there Yogi!!

Won't get much done today as it's all about our Chicken Meeting today!!! It's an hour and a half to Raleigh for me so we'll be outta here by quarter of ten..Tammy, Laura and I have some things to set up and get organized before everyone gets there at noon...anyway, wish ya'll could be there...and if you ever have one in Louisiana I might seriously think of coming...never been there, but love the cajun food and before Katrina, always wanted to visit the eateries downtown and eat the local fare (minus the alligator of course, lol!!). Maybe someday the place will thrive again, sure hope so. Crawfish ettouffee, shrimp creole, jambalaya.......yum, yum.......shrimp and grits.....

Heck, scoot over Yogi, I'm gonna help you with those peas!!

Would you believe I made my world famous "old fashion" home made ham/bacon burger?
Honey hush! I use 90/10 ( 90% lean-10% fat) hamburger. I then grind 4 - 6 slices of thick sliced smoked slab bacon and mix with the hamburger meat. I make them into 8 oz. patties ( no kiddie burger for me ) and cook them in my big cast iron skillet.
Top that with sliced cheese, a thick slice of sweet onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo on a lightly toasted jumbo burger bun.
Gotta have a heaping pile of fries on the side and a pint jelly glass of coooold sweet milk.

Now 2dream, it don't get no better than that right there. Know what I mean?

Well kiss my grits. Countryboy, I kept thinking, " What am I forgetting?" Now I know. Where were you when I needed you? Oh how I love jalapena peppers on them. I can't believe I did that. Had another one of them "senior moments again.
It is said that 3 things happen to a feller when he turns 60; 1) hair starts graying, 2) memory loss, and 3) I can't remember what 3 was.

2 things Yogi. 1st Them burgers sound sooooooo good and 2nd but most important 60 IS NOT OLD.
I had a birthday yesterday and hit the double nickle. I am way to close to 60 to even consider it old. We are still spring chickens and I bet we can work circles around them young whipper snappers.

Ya' got that right! That number only means something on a birth certificate. One is only as old as one feels. I'd like to see one of'em try to stay in the pea patch or green patch with me all day.

Yep, them was some fine burgers. If you've never tried mixing bacon in your hamburger meat, you might want to try it. Countyboy remindd me about the jalapenos. I couldn't stand it anymore. About an hour ago I fixed me one for supper with the peppers. Glad I had made a extra pattie.

Now I gotta figure out what I want to cook tomorrow. Any suggestions? I was kinda, sorta hoping ScrambledEgg might invite us all up to her house for Sunday dinner. Oh well.
