Tonite's menu consisted of...

-striploin steak with a mesquite rub cooked med/rare on the BBQ
-sauted mushrooms & onions in a burgundy wine/butter sauce
-baked potatoe stuffed with onions & garlic

-raspberry tartuffo for dessert

The hoe has chicken poop on it so I used my cast iron skillet instead.

This is not a corn hoe cake think more like a skillet sized biscuit allowed to bake/panfry until browned. I use`a little lard to keep the dough moving and not sticking to the pan.

Let me download my camera and i'll post a photo.
 
Yogiman...I'm flattered that you want my corn casserole recipe! I'll tell ya, it's a real winner. It's my #1 pitch-in dish and I always get requests for the recipe.
Try this and let me know what ya think:
1 stick butter
1/3 c suger
1 c sour cream
2 eggs
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 can creamed corn
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
Cream the butter, sugar, sour cream and eggs. Add corn and muffin mix. Mix well. Bake in 9 x 11 pan for 45 minutes at 350 degrees until center is done.

Thanks a million for the recipe. I have all of the fixens in the pantry. Gonna make that real soon, like tomorrow mabey.

This is all the more reason I want to start a thread on here for recipes. There are some truly good cooks on here with some wonderful recipes. Thinking about calling it "Grandmaw's Cookbook or Granny's Cookbook. What do you think about that idea.
And then there are all of those talented folks with their crafts.
What a wonderful bunch of people.

I adore corn casserole and made a good one at christmas and thanksgiving, I'd have to find the recipe to see how similar it is to yours BJ...but I am printing it out anyway since it looks so good!! Sooo, what's for supper tonight...hmmmm....not sure, but lunch will be the shrimp leftovers from last night with that almondine sauce on them with some macaroni salad on the side!!! Yummy!!!

One thing is for sure, we have chickens and food in common on this forum, lol!! Ya'll have a great day...gotta go earn some moola now.....​
 
Flour hoe cakes (there is a cornmeal version too)

Like biscuit dough. Into a warm skillet with a little bit of melted lard/crisco to keep it from sticking.

Watch from it to slowly brown. Then flip it.

Serve them up hot.

We like butter. Or they are used to sop syrup or even a little syrup with peanut butter for that sweet finish to a meal.

I'm fixing
Black-eyed peas (with bacon grease, didn't have hog-jawl)
Yeast rolls (homemade)
Mac & Cheese (homemade)
Steak stroganauf w/ brown gravy
mashed potatoes
Esau's corn (minenite farmer sells his own corn down here, it is divine...I buy bushels and put up in my freezer)

With Cheese cake for dessert.
Oh, and sweet tea.

I'd love to see a recipe file started...maybe with threads in food categories...no matter what, I imagine it will be a long list of recipes...I would be more than happy to share my recipes!!! Though they are usually dessert or baked goods in one form or another! How would this go about getting done?
 
DH is home tonight so it is Red Meat Night.
Steak, Baked Potatos and Salad with garlic bread.
All the trimmings of course, mushrooms, onion, tomato (store bought of course this time of year) yellow bell pepper, cheese, boiled eggs.......
