Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Oooh, all this talk about pastrami inspired me...last night we had grilled hot turkey pastrami sandwiches with marble cheddar and swiss cheese, onion ring dip and mayo mixed together for the sauce, and saurkraut. Chips and 7 Up cupcakes from Kroger went with it. The sandwiches were awesome!!!! Thanks, everyone! Tonight we had McDonalds....

I was lazy tonight. I had 2 fried eggs (over very light), grits, toast and a whopping glass of milk.
DH was not interested in breakfast for dinner so he is cooking himself a Baked Potato, Grilled Talapia and Shrimp.
As good as I know that sounds was just not what I wanted.
I unloaded the dishwasher while I cooked mine. DH gets to load it while he cooks his.
I guess this is just one of those "I Need Some Space" nights.

Well, tonight I had to satisfy a craving I was having. So I put together a big old pot of home made baked potato soup. No, not Campbell's or Progresso! But Yogi's home made! So it was:

Baked Potato Soup topped with shredded cheddar cheese, home made (real) bacon bits and sour cream.
Tomato and Cottage Cheese (Home grown, vine ripened no less)
Crackers
About a quart of cold sweet milk to wash it all down.

Feeling real comfortable right about now.

Roast chicken. Alas, it was store bought, my cornish x's are only 3 weeks old. Soon, soon, it will be home grown chicken!!!!

The angel cake with homemade blueberry/rhubarb sauce was pretty good too.

Well, we were going to have grilled salmon with Maple-Balsamic glaze and some other stuff, but then DS informs me at 3:30 that "the band" is coming over for practice at 4:30. Thankfully I had 10 lbs. of chicken wings in the freezer, so cooked them up in a teriyaki sauce. Unlike DS, his friends don't really like veggies, so just gave them some carrots and ranch dip and some watermelon. DH and I had some pilaf and a big green salad with our wings. Then we all made banana splits for dessert (DS wanted banana's foster, but don't feel comfortable serving other kids rum!). Everyone seemed happy, and we'll have the salmon tomorrow.

Boy did I lose track of time today!

Yogi inspired tonight's dinner!

We're having Sunday dinner a day early, as we're having a Father's Day barbeque tomorrow. Tonight is:

Breaded, Herbed, Pan Cooked Chicken
Mashed Potatoes with Chicken Pan Gravy
Collard Greens Sauteed in Olive Oil and Garlic, finished off with a little Rice Vinegar
Buttered Baby Carrots
And, yep, Cornbread!

I couldn't just finish off this meal any old way, so we're having peach cobbler a la mode. (Still have ice cream from Thursday!) I think I'll have to wait and have all but a bite of mine, reheated, a little later on this evening! lol!

I've got a pitcher of lemonade ready, too. It was almost 100 again today. (No wonder I have tomatoes! Oh, and eggplants and peppers! Plus, I think the corn's grown inches since yesterday!)

Thank you, Yogi!

Boy do all those meals you guys had yesterday sound good! If I wasn't having a meal I'm looking forward to, I might be packing my bags!

Wow, both the chicken and the salmon cakes sound wonderful! This site is so inspirational.

Homemade pizza tonight with artichokes and tomatoes (my fav!), salad and watermelon sorbet for dessert.

Baked the pizza on the grill to add that wood- fire kind of flavor. Yummm!

I know that none of you are going to believe what I just did for supper tonight, but here goes. I didn't get in the house until 9 o'clock tonight from working all day on the chicken pens. Just to tired to cook. Soooooooooooooooo ............

I made me up a mess of chili cheese fries topped with diced Vidalia onions and sour cream along with a big old glass of cold sweet milk. Now...............

I'll probably be begging for one of them little purple pills (Nexiun) about 2 o'clock in the morning.

That actually sounds good Yogibear!! Big supper here tonight...steak on the grill, corn on the cob, seasoned fries, garlic bread sticks, salad and vanilla cake with sweet tea

oink, oink!!

Tonight is our Father's Day barbeque. I'm not even sure what meat or chicken dh has chosen to have, but I know we are also grilling corn, onions, peppers and pineapple, and having a brown and wild rice mix with sauteed portobellos in it.

Dessert (We're having a lot of desserts lately....!) is one of dh's favorite cakes. It's a yellow cake with what we call a boiled icing, but it isn't actually boiled icing, though it is boiled....hmmmm, confusing.

This is the icing where you cook sugar, milk, vanilla etc. in a saucepan, then take it off the heat and set the pot bottom in a bowl of ice and beat it until it thickens some.

Then you take your cake, which you've poked a zillion holes in (I use a pointy ended chopstick), and ladle the frosting over all. It gets down into the cake, and is wonderful.

That sounds good, Redfeathers!

Now that's a pizza I could sink my teeth into, HappyHen! Ooooo, what a nice sorbet! Have you ever made watermelon ice cream? We got dh an ice cream maker a few summers ago, and we've had just about anything you can think of made into ice cream or sorbet! lol!

Yogi, did you make it through the night without a purple pill? We like chili-fries, but I'm sorry you were so tired as to have to find a quick dinner alternative!

Scrambled Egg, that sounds like here! Want to jog with me in the morning? ; )
