Tonight, it's fresh venzun loins on the grill, with baked tatoes from the garden, and grilled aspargaus from the backyard patch....A total meal from off the land....kinda like living and eating green eh?
We went from "full house" last night, to "empty nesters" tonight.
So I cooked a simple beef roast with roasted carrots and potato "leaves", (planked potatoes cut into leaf shapes with a cookie cutter). Home-baked Vienna bread and steamed, seasoned garden green beans. Pumpkin custard with softly whipped cream for dessert.
Lol .. well he's fixing the rattlesnake now.. actually smells like when he frys up deer meat, not too bad.
The kids are sitting at thier table, banging thier forks, chanting..rattle snake, rattle snake!!!
Think I'm eating the mashed potatoes, and squash.
They ate more then he did !! There's maybe 5 pieces left, and those will be gone in a minute when he comes back inside for lunch. lol
I guess I have to be, he fed the oldest squirrel when she was maybe 1 1/2 and she loved it. She was eating deer before she had more then 4 teeth.

I made a French pizza (pissaladiere....gotta love the name). It's topped with nicoise olives, onions, garlic, anchovies and Parmesan cheese. A simple butterhead lettuce salad and individual apple tartlets with a puff pastry crust for dessert.
Since I made sooooo much spaghetti and meatballs ..and sooo many cabbage rolls.. It's time for a change!
I'm torn between the homemade pizza with fresh pesto ...and kidneys (mexican recipe) with fresh gorditas. Whatever goes better with rain and more rain ..that's what it will be
Anyone happen to know the authentic name for the dish that I make with kidneys.. braised kidney with peppers, onions, etc. ..and all the seasonings, ie., coriander, cumin, chili, oregano, etc. ... ?? I've only ever found it at one restaurant, years ago.... and I can't get google to understand that I don't mean "kidney beans" ..even if I use "rinon"

Try "Rinones" and search it again to see if you can find something similar. I have an old 1944 Mexican/Spanish cookbook that belonged to my dad's mom (an uncle was married to a Latina, which is where my dad learned how to make authentic Mexican recipes). Anyway, there is a recipe in there called Rinones en Vino Blanco (Kidneys in White Wine). Searching the Internet, I see similar recipes that use sherry instead. If you figure it out, let us know. You have me curious now!
