Sounds like you made the wiser choice!

Hmmmm. You'll drink porter but not black coffee? I think we need to have a talk.

Isn't porter simply the black coffee of the beer world? In fact, I'm certain that back in my brewing days we even made a coffee porter, or was it a coffee stout. Either way, it was yummy.

I'm about 1 hour away from a road trip, so my dinner will no doubt be something fast somewhere in the middle of the central valley.

Well to be honest my favorite is a cream stout....go figure. I used to brew beer with a friend, actually to be honest, she brewed, I helped. Nothing ever tasted as good. She would make dark beers, chocolate beers and was always experimenting. Now we are a little older and it just doesn't "sit" the way it used to and for the most part, our brewing days are over. Some days I can't even handle the coffee anymore...ugh..getting older stinks. lol

The Porters are consistantly good. Black Butte comes from Deschutes brewery here in Oregon. We have toured there a few times and had a really good lunch if any of you are ever traveling through Bend Oregon.

Roast beef, rice and gravy, english peas, and rolls tonight. THEN (drum roll) strawberry shortcake with pound cake instead of shortcake. Lipton green tea with citrus is our beverage of choice tonight.

I wish we had a Long John Silver's because I so love fish and chips...sadly none around here..lucky you Feathers! I came home, unloaded my Feed Store purhcases, cleaned my chicken pen while the girls scrathced around all over my yard!!, then I had to work on my biofilter for my pond...can I say pain in the buttcus royally..got that working for the moment and came in, put up eggs, feed bread starter someone gave me at work today, soaked some coconut peat and got 3 containers of red wigglers settled in for the night..will get them in my worm bin tomorrow...and, since I am alone (DH & DS are working on the race car) ..my supper is a half a container of Edy's Take the Cake ice cream..my fav!!

Can you believe this? Tonight I did:
Fish Sticks - or at least that was what they were supposed to be. Looked like fries.
French fries
Hush Puppies
Sweet milk

Yeah, Yeah, I know! But I thought I had to try them ( fish sticks ) for the first time since my school days. And that was a long, long time ago. Either my memory has failed me, my taste has changed, or fish sticks are not the same as I remembered them.

That's a far cry from my normal culinary diet.

So tomorrow I'm gonna break out the old recipe collections and attempt to put a lasagna together for BrandiGirl. But it will be a real lasagna, meat and all. I haven't made lasagna since I don't know when, but here goes nothing.

Growing up my dad worked for a cold storage company...one of stored food products were fish products from "Gortons of Gloucester" That silly commercial with the guy in the yellow slicker...so there was always frozen food in our freezer from fish sticks, to lemon sole. I probably haven't eaten a fish stick in 25 years, I don't think I miss them!!!

I am most certain that no one on this thread feels guilty for eating chicken.

I just feel guilty when I eat chicken in front of my chicken!! (I had a house chicken over the winter months)

Chicken breast with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, and chocolate pudding.

Sounds like I worked pretty hard, until you take into effect, the chicken I just sauteed in a little olive oil, I used Idaho Spuds (usually make real mashed potatoes, but it got late) and the corn casserole was from leftovers

It still tasted pretty good though

I don't think we have Sonic burgers out this way. Are they pretty good?

Feathers - you are deprived if you don't have a Sonic Drive Inn. Yes the burgers are good but like everything else they can vary from location to location. There are 5 Sonics that I know of around my area. The best hamburgers are at the one furtherest from me. Wouldn't you know it? I still manage to hit them at least once a month when I go to the only Harbor Freight Store in this area.
Co-Op, Harbor Freight, Sonic - Sure makes for a good Saturday for me.
