The ability to forcefully break away. We as a nation were able to break away from England. They were unable to enforce their rule upon us. The Confederacy was not able to do so even though they very bravely attempted too.
Sorry guys the South lost. Don't feel so bad. You weren't there, nothing you can do about it. Be proud that they tried.
Interesting.. Thus, to use your own words,
* The Jews had no right to a nation for over a thousand years, since they were "not able to break away from the countries of the world."
* Nowadays, the people of Tibet have no right to demand freedom from China's oppression, since they are "unable to keep China from enforcing their rule upon them."
* During the few years of his reign before the Third Reich fell, it was perfectly OK for Hitler to do the Holocaust, since the allies were could not stop him, even though "they very bravely attempted too."
For some stupid reason, I'm still too old fashioned to believe that might makes right.
PS: If the above looks like I'm trying to make fun of anyone, or calling someone names, or trying to insult someone, or flaming, I'm not trying to do any such thing. Sorry. It's just that I'm not too good at putting my thoughts into words. Thanks for leaving the thread open thus far, o modly ones.
Since when does what's right count for anything when it comes to politics and power? Might just gets the stronger power what they want.
Actually the US didn't do anything to try and stop the Holocaust. When refugees came by the boatload fleeing Hitlers terror they were turned away by us. They didn't have the ability to stop him, but they could have let the refugees stay.
