Hey, y'all!

Good to know about the geese. I have not made any definite plans yet but was debating a goose as an added element of protection from the hawks and falcon who are swooping about. We lost one of our hens about a month ago to a hawk...hindsight is 20/20 because she had been a bit outcast from the flock just a day or two before she got killed. I should have kept her locked up in the coop, I suppose, rather than letting her free range solo.

I have just started researching into the geese, but the way my property is set up I thought (once the geese are grown obvs) that I could put their fence and coop area on the western end...so it's east to west...chicken coop...duck hut...goose house ;) The purpose being the hawks and f alcons and owls who are out and about come from a tree about 5 acres back to the west. I'm thinking of hanging a wind sock, also, but don't want to scare the boogers out of my own girls.

Welcome to BYC!

Here is my best advice for navigating this forum:

Almost everyone here is an absolute expert on almost everything imaginable, take me for example I just left advice about freezing temps and I live in Southern California. So take the best and leave the rest.

Once you do get some good advice, and you will then follow said advice... Example being the guy who burned down his coop after being advised not to use a heat lamp in the coop and then talks about how to place the heat lamp going forward in the new coop....

Stay away from religion and politics, its just not worth it:oops:

Oh, and build BIG, chicken math is real:plbb

Welcome to the flock!
