Hi all friends

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I hope you will update us and tell us how the chicks are doing. I don't think leghorns go broody.

yeah drumsticks I have heard that those leghorns don't go broody, I fed up of broody hens. But I doubt about their foraging quality my flock is almost completely dependent on free ranging. They go as far as .4 miles foraging. we usually provide them with butter milk when ever it is available and mostly it is becoz we have some cows and water buffaloes.I suppose it is an excellent source of protein and calcium rest they make up by eating bugs(I must mention they always have access to a good many dung beetles).
Any way I have decided to give Leghorns a chance.
Next time if it needed be I will try
"Grampriya" an Indian breed that lays 200-250 eggs under free ranging conditions. But again I fear an Indian hen who is usually determined broody.
Thanks again.
