just wanted to introduce myself...my name is dixie and i live in western ky. I have been planning for the last two years to get chickens, but I had to convince my husband and that took a year!

So, this spring I ordered 25 straight run assorted chicks from Ideal Poultry, but soon discovered 10 of them were Cornish X, which means they will soon be in the freezer. I knew the remaining 15 wouldn't be enough so I went to Rural King and bought 25 more. We have 46 of the original 50 left, and they are so much fun.

I've enjoyed lurking in the forums for about six weeks now, but thought it was time to become a registered member. Thanks to all of you who have given advice (even if you didn't know it at the time!) I look forward to getting to know you all better.
