Thank you. No, mainly just the roosters have names, just this hen was a fair wanderer. Husband was watching TV in came Gertrude to watch with him. She's just such a character.Hi there hun,
Great to have you with us, 70 hens woah ! Respect !
As Gertrude has a name have all the others ? List please
I used to live in Wellington, when I was young. My dad sent me to his sisters to grow up (I think the green mohican was too much for him as I was only 16)
Anyway, I digress, Bienvenue (I live in France now) to BYC

Welcome. Oh my...that buff sussex is gorgeous.Hello everyone. I live in the South Island of NZ. I have had chickens for well over 40 years, I use to work for a large egg supply business in the UK.
The breeds I have are White Leghorns, a couple of Brown Leghorns, Buff Sussex, 1 Light Sussex, Hylines, Welbars, Pekin Bantams (Cochins) Black Orpington (only a rooster) Lavender Leghorn cockerel (which is my project at the moment)
I probably have about 70 or so poultry, not sure on the exact number tho !!
I also have a Pedigree Red Devon herd of cattle that we farm on about 70 hectares.
Photo is of my 22 week old pullet which is a Buff Sussex cross Light Sussex, husband named her Gertrude. Cheers.View attachment 3772369
