Hi There....and help! new hatched chick with tummy protrusion!

Hello and now onto the issue.....

I recently got some (4) eggs given to me.
I had a broody gal and thought oh well may as well make her happy.
My Hen has happily sat 21 days and yesterday I was thrilled to see two chicks....
Today I am worried as One has a dark bruise on it's tummy and what looks like Protruding intestine.
A worm like bit sticking out mid tummy!...Hernia? Open Umbilicus?

Only alittle bit but never the less not good.
It is alive and cheeping but what do I do?
Let nature take its course?...
The other two eggs have not hatched How long to wait ? Before taking them from her?
Mabey they were not fertalised?

I want to show the kids the chicks but with this ones tummy I am unsure if a good idea?

Sorry the circumstances are not ideal for you, but nice to "see" you anyway. I usually just let nature take it's course- chicks that don't do well may be a real problem in the future, health-wise. Natural selection is my choice, thought many disagree with this approach and will nurse sick chicks. It's up to you about letting the kids in on it- that's your personal choice and depends upon their maturity level and how you want to raise them.

Is the hen still sitting on the eggs? If she is, leave her be. Put out water and chick starter feed very close to her. If she has given up on the eggs, you probably should too. The protrusion might be unabsorbed yolk, in which case it will disappear or fall off in a few days. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response...
I have tried to take a picture but not much luck.
I think whilst Mum is happy sitting and caring for it I will just leave But I dread finding a dead chick.

My Kids and I hatched 7 successfully last year and One did'nt thrive and died.
The kids were really good about it.
But this looks pretty awful.

I am crossing fingers and toes that the other eggs will hatch.
There is no piping or cracks and it has been 24 or more hours?
Water and chick crumbs are all in place and mumma hen is happy.

But no it is not near his Vent it is like in the middle of it's tummy.
Surrounded by a bruise and then this bit sticking out.

I will try to work out how to upload a picture on here.
I am hopEless on PC!

Just An update...Little chick has been pushed out by Mumma Hen and Had started to bleed from the area..
Vet came and Little chick has been put to rest.
Knew It was'nt going to be a good ending...
The protrusion was Intestine....bit of a birth malfunction
Mumma Hen has gotten off the other two eggs and is enjoying her One little healthy happy chick!
So a happy ending in the end
