Hiding chickens from HOA-gone rogue!!

If you and two other residents in the HOA own chickens, why don't you all get a petition and try to see if you can get that ordinance changed? Otherwise, you really don't have a leg to stand on when they seize your birds.

This is a great idea especially if you’ve got other like minded individuals

Our HOA ain't listening to our suggestions. P.S. I live by a lake...

Doesn’t seem like a really smart thing to do first of all and is this really the hill you want to die on? They’ve already got your number from last time ....it just seems really reckless and not responsible, why don’t you just move ??

And yes I am from a law enforcement family and it others me when you don’t follow the rules

I’ve inquired into what it would take to change that ordinance. Half of the neighborhood and there’s over 2000 people. my neighbors and I have tried. Even the members on the board think it’s a dumb ordinance. Or at least that’s what they said at a meeting I went to and brought it up.

I recommend anyone, chicken owner or not, that lives somewhere with an HOA to become an active member of their HOA. You have a say in your association and you can make things run better and you can voice your opinion and often you can vote on issues. Know what the agenda of your association is. Get items you care about to be part of the agenda. Make sure they are spending money wisely and taking on projects that help all owners and improving your infrastructure.

This is why I will NEVER live an an HOA. Too many busy bodies and nightmares. I’ve heard if old men literally measuring the front lawn and then fining the homeowner. No thank you! And I know is it’s not that easy to move but like someone said earlier is this the hill you want to die on?

Plant a bunch of marijuana plants around the coop, run and along your fence line.
That should hide them well.
If you're going rouge, go all out.

The last one I lived in thought more of their scenery and noise. We joined and
They were always in our business. Now mind you, all are different but it is basically a control for betterment of the subdivision. We moved to larger property without one.

No, legally they can not be in your yard uninvited.
Did your neighbors receive same letter? If not, it isn’t about your hens.
It could be asthetic but the pic looks nice.
We planted 300 Viburnum around our entire 5 acres because of nosy people
since they grow quick, are decidious and if planted 4 feet apart grow the nicest privacy fence for around coop.
Next, since you have a privacy fence, add electric to the top to keep the paparazzi away.
Last and most important, place a camera on your coop facing said neighbor tattler area and see just who is spying on you and if in your yard, report for tresspassing.

Then,
I agree, take a petition to all chicken owners in neighborhood after checking for noise ordinance and if you are allowed to have roosters, join the HOA, try to make them see that a few chickens kept in a nice, clean pen without a Rooster does not hurt anything.
