Id say your state department of agriculture. at least here your are required to post your name and address and date of lay on eggs you sell from your home or farm. If thats the case where you live he is being dishonest.
The carton label does not say "Farm Fresh Eggs." One statement says "Hillside Farms." A separate statement, in a different portion of the carton, and in different type style and size says "Fresh Eggs."
Chances are very high that he has a business with the name of Hillside Farms. Check it out with your state's Corporation Commission. If the address of his corporation is Hillside, then that is the legal address needed on his egg cartons. He may be bringing eggs in from other states, as was suggested in an earlier post, or he may be purchasing eggs from smaller farms and reselling them. He may own some of those farms, or an interest in them.
I have not seen anything more than speculation on what he might be doing, and that it might be wrong.
wow ! somebody get a rope.. the guy must be guilty of something.. who cares what , just as long as vengnce is served..
so what if he is getting eggs from somebody else and reselling them?? last I checked, there was not a flock of chickens behind the local super market where I buy my groceries.
It might just be that he is more "legal" than the self rightious mob who is after him..
No, Cetawin - she already stated that she doesn't give a rip about the customers or the hens - she is ticked because he is under-selling her. So now she wants to destroy his business.
Wow some are truly thick headed here I want this guy to simply represent his eggs as what they are from where they are. people think they are local eggs the organic farm i buy my veggies from thinks they are selling local eggs. Dont you see a problem with that. I sell eggs 3.00 a dozen and have told two people in the last week i would have a waiting list............one of them was like 3 and a waiting list ever hear of Hilside for local 1.25 eggs. Fine sell eggs for 1.25 but dont put a wilmington address on them and call yourself a farm IF YOU ARE NOT!!!!
O.K. let me say we have a very wealthy man that lives up the road and he loves his chickens and sells free range eggs from his farm for !.00 a dozen i have no problem with this whatsoever and his chickens free range all over the place im sure he has amazing eggs that he sells honestly! Even though many dont like him because he is a rich guy from the city I tell people about his eggs when they ask and i cant take on more than seven a week until chicks get bigger.
Kaya, I get it. It's like someone selling hats made at a factory in China as "hand-knit". When I do my knitting, it represents hours of work and I charge accordingly. No way can I fairly compete against a hat made on a machine by chinese prisoners.
Now, if all you can afford is a $5 chinese prisoner made hat, fine. But having someone represent that hat in the same market where I am selling a $35 hand-made hat....yeah...I would be totally ticked. Let people know the truth and decide for themselves.
If you are not buying is eggs, what does it matter to you where they are from or any of that?? I would say it is up to his customers to do something about it.. I truly doubt that they care ... and I also truly doubt that they read the carton..
they are getting eggs for a 1.25,,why look a gift horse in the mouth??
I do not know what set you off in the first place,,, but get over it and move on..

If you knew the lies that our food system depends on you may care...if not im sorry for you
At our coop people pay 5.50 a dozen for free range organic local eggs and they cant keep them stocked
That is what I started doing today and so far six local farms will ask him if his eggs are local and if they arnt three of those will look for others and three said they would make a sign stating they are not local..........Fair enough
I just want people to be aware i will also write to our local paper and brattleboro
I am happy to say IN VERMONT WE SUPPPPPORT LOCAL FARMS
