DH came to town yesterday afternoon. Was so nice out he decided to drive his 1934 Ford pick up. He was given this truck by a family friend; it was in pieces in their dump; and he spent around 3 years restoring the truck.
It is not a show room piece but he loves it

Got home last night and when parking it discovered someone had been hit it on the left rear fender. Broke that. Damaged the hub cap; took me 2 years of searching to find all 4. And damaged the wire spoke wheel. It was dark out when he left so he did not see the damage.

Both of us are just sick.

called the local police department since it happened in town. The cop started accusing us of having damaged the truck while taking it out and we were now trying to make an insurance claim!

This guy has no idea what a '34 Ford even looks like. He did not even want to investigate it. He started getting snotty and I got mad and hung up on him.
Called our highway patrol and that officer knows what type of truck this is and he is making a report on it.
Called our sheriff's department to talk to the officer in charge of crime stoppers.
Also posted it on my FB page and posted a $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who did it.
Calling all the body shops too there was some paint transfer from our truck to their vehicle.

I really hope you get the person responsible for this.

I hope so too Sumi.

NYboy no cameras. Small town. Everybody knows everybody. Word is already through the entire town.

Trying to find him a fender. There is a swap meet in the town south of us. He's going to go check it out. I found a parts place in Colorado and waiting to hear from them.

If I were you, I'd call the local cops supervisor and file a complaint about how he handled the report and that you do not appreciate being accused of fraud.

That's really sad about the truck, I get really attached to my vehicles too..... I get upset when people make it a point to park as close to my challenger as they can (so I have to get in on the passenger side), even when I park at the far end of the lot away from everyone. Next time that guy does it to me again he may find a few flat tires on the side parked next to my car!

BAD SILLY! LOL
My dad used to do things that were not so nice when people would do that to him. Like accidently on purpose having his keys between the knuckles... or accidently on purpose remove mirrors because he fell on them...

I really hope you find out who messed up your truck.

Won't do any good, the police chief had been telling him what to say and do. He admitted to me to having to call the chief just figure anything out. Said we shouldn't have moved the vehicle.

I was hit several years ago in Targets parking lot. Didn't know it til I got home too. That police force asked me to come in the next day and filed a report and took pictures. Unfortunately I was parked out of view of their cameras so they didn't get the vehicle on film.
Amazing the difference in police work. Our PD has around 1200 people and the other one has around 20.000 people.

I just do not have any respect for the local police force.
