Vegetable oil will work also for scale mites and they dont seem to mind the taste either. I have used it and it works too...FYI

I would say yes to the dipping. If she will tollerate it. If not you may be able to soak a rag and wipe it on thick. You need to try to smuther the buggers. Do more the one aplication a day if possible. You may need to treat your other flock members too. Good Luck.

I meant to add...don't just dip the feet go all the way up the legs as far as they go.

You could also get some VetRx at the feed store, as it may be good to have around for other problems. It treats colds, roup, scaly legs, eye worm, etc. There's more uses listed on the instructions I think. It's good for a few different things and is nice to have around just in case. Also, you may want to get some DE and sprinkle it around all over the coop and bedding/nesting material. You could sprinkle it on the chickens too. The DE will kill mites. I hope your chicken gets better!

WD-40 works as good as anything, anything oil based will work..but the pens and litter should be treated as well
