Everyone's goodies look so perfect!

I am a decent cook, but I almost never bake. Especially never anything challenging. We just don't eat that many sweets.

But I tried this morning and I think my first try at pastry came out pretty good, but it was SOOO messy! I don't know why my icing is all over the place!

Depending on the type of icing, either let it sit on the counter in the bowl for a bit until it gets a little thicker before using or add more powder sugar to thicken it.

The icing is just powdered sugar and orange juice concentrate. It seemed pretty thick as I was trying to drizzle it on (more like "blobbing" it on). Then it just ran everywhere. I didn't let it sit for any length of time, so I'll try that in the future and adjust it if needed. Thanks!
Oh, and make sure the baked goods your icing are not still warm. The heat of the baked goods will soften the icing and make it run.

Then again, I don't mind getting big droplets of icing stuck to the bottom edge of a pastry. It quenches my sweet tooth. :)
