"Holistic" Dog thread!

Hey everyone! I have two Labradors, Comet and Ember. I love doing research for them, and honestly think I know more about their health/care than myself. 😂 To be specific, I really like holistic treatments/keeping styles. Example being, I am a raw feeder. Make my own raw and am very happy about it. I source all my recipes though Dogs Naturally which I also get a lot of my "holistic" information from. I use BARF style recipes.
Along with that, I do a lot of research on vaccines for dogs, holistic treatments etc, along with choosing not to spay my new pup.
Anyway, I wanted to see what other "holistic" style dog owners are out their. You don't have to be dedicated holistic care, rather just use some holistic style practices. This could be raw feeding, not fixing your dog, a holistic vet, or any other holistic related care you give your dogs. I would love to hear about it!
Stories, personal experiences, and tips are also welcome. Plus, I love doggie photos!
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
I also make my own toothpaste. Very similar to the recipe posted already. I tried raw feeding before too, but not currently.

I used to not want to spay too, but honestly, its not really worth it. If you aren't going to breed the dog, I don't see a reason to not spay her. Neutering is a different story though. I can see why some people may want to not neuter.

Neat! Raw feeding does have a lot of perks, other than price that is. ;)
I personally see a lot of benefits of not spaying. You avoid a very very invasive surgery, they keep their hormones which are key in the immune system, and some study's show theres a lesser risk of cancer. I can also see why intact may not work for lots of people, you have to be a very responsible pet owner to make it work. I wont go to into depth their though. I have another thread on that anyway. :p

Could I have a link to that other thread, please?

Yeah, yeah. Kiki is intact and its been hard keeping her away from her own brother!

It takes a lot of work, that's for sure.

The reason I stopped raw feeding is actually because Kiki won't eat it. I prefer having raw feed with no preservatives, which means the food needs to be kept frozen. I have had enough of me defrosting, serving, just to have her not want to eat it. I am not over the raw idea though. Maybe she just doesn't like processed raw. Still planning on developing a butchering flock in order to sustain a raw feeding plan for three dogs.

So far, they just get the "leftovers" from butchers, but we don't butcher enough to sustain that yet.

I feel that! I don't know how many times the dogs have come begging me at dinner time, and the food is still frozen. Then soaking it in warm water, etc, etc. Its a pain. :p
Thats interesting. I'm interested to see if she decided she likes homemade raw better, I like the idea of a butcher flock, then you don't have to worry about sourcing grass fed, and all the other stuff.
