OMG I am soooo about to enter! And I really can't believe it. It's not finished but I cannot believe the guts actually work! I'm afraid it is different. I saw MissPrissy's and was awed.
But then I saw the posts about the water heater thermostat working better on metal and the posts about mounting it on a metal box. And I have to confess. I'm a clutz - I didn't like the hovabator because I kept bumping the heating element.
Well, there are old metal ice chests. So mine is an old 7up ice chest, with flexwatt heat tape (reptile supplies) instead of a bulb and a water heater thermostat that I could screw right onto the inside of the tada - all metal cooler.
I used the drain spout to run wires into the cooler and drilled a few air holes down low.
Now I do have to fit it with a fan and a nightlight of some sort but I learned to do those from the other posts.
And OMG I did NOT blow a fuse figuring out how to wire the heat tape to the thermostat - it's going!
The window is next, getting the top cut and the glass in.
Then I need something for humidity and flooring and unless I make some sort of turner I'm all but done! I might just die of laughter, that I managed to do this.
