I was supposed to have a hospital follow-up today, but the doctor called in sick. :idunno He probably lost his golf ball yesterday and is still on the course looking for it. :tongue

That laugh is for the sick doctor comment.

Those chooks of yours are just lovely.

It’s nice if you can get chicks this way.
I can! I'm an hour away from Ideal Hatchery, and they have a great selection. I go pick them up the morning that they hatch! It's awesome.
I know birds aren't supposed to be as healthy or high quality as birds from a breeder but so far mine are healthy (granted it's only been a little over a year). My experience with a local breeder was less positive. Those poor birds were absolutely jammed into cages. It makes me sick to see that.

And Jaffarra’s crop was not empty this morning so she is stuck in the crate today, I feel she is eating stuff she shouldn’t. I hate to keep her cooped up (pun intended), but I do not want to do surgery on her again.

In the up side, Betty’s crop is down thankfully.

Now if I can get Eli sorted out.

Glad they have Shirley Jr. Those buffy streaked chicks will feather out something like Chia, Shan, Havoc, Pippa, and Maizie, I think... golden tones, but with some sort of markings.

J names....

Juniper
Jezebel (if she's all over Jr.)
Jade
Josie (or Josephine)
Juliette
Jubilee
OR Juju or Jujy... remember the JUJUbears & Jujyfruits candies?

JuJu or JuJy ~ SWEET either way 😁

After my experience with rescuing Leah and Petra at the swap meet, I will never go to another one. It was just so frustrating, maddening and sad.

I have had no issues with the Peavey Mart chicks I bought (Hoover Hatchery), and even the Freys Hatchery chicks (my Noirans) have been great.

Those ‘factory’ hatcheries have huge bio security so the birds you get will be at least not exposed to all the things backyard breeders birds are exposed to.
