Diannastarr, That is called living on the edge....:gig:gig:gig

BTW on the subject of eating potatoes with skins. I like the New Potatoes, and Yucon gold, as well as Red potatoes with skins on. Regular potatoes with gray skin I usually peel. When I go to Wendy's for baked potato, I eat skin and all. :plbb... Sometimes I do encounter some of that Idaho soil.:celebrate
My favorite way to prepare the New, Gold Or Red potatoes is as follows.
Wash totally with scrubber cloth.
Cut in halves.
Prepare a dry seasoning mixture to dip open faces of potatoes.
Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Paprika, Pepper, Onion powder, Cumin, Kansas City Steak Seasoning, Parsley, Dash of salt. I vary my seasonings to what I have at the time.
Heat up my cast griddle on my grill and add Olive oil. Canola oil is good too. I just avoid vegetable oil (soybean oil) because it once formed a plastic looking thingie. :gig Medium heat not to burn my food too quickly.
Place potatoes face down with the seasonings on the faces onto well oiled griddle. The moisture of the cut potato sticks the seasonings to it.
Keep checking until done. 15 to 20 minutes depending on grill temperature.
exactly right that stuff is crap what is called vegetable oil (soybean oil) is really bad for you , i think it is plastic...!:th:lol: :sick :tongue:lau:gig

I remember reading some time back, that Vegetable oil and margarine has a molecular structure one atom off from Vinyl Siding. Not sure if it is true, or was a joke since I'm not a chemist. My experience with it was such. One day I scrubbed a cast iron skillet heavy duty. It was clean to raw iron. It needed to be seasoned to be used properly. Usually the best way to do it is with a quantity of BACON. Only thing I had on hand was some vegetable oil. I put a good coating of it on the skillet and placed into my outdoor grill to season the cast iron. After I returned to check up on skillet, the oil turned to a pliable film that I peeled and scrubbed off. I don't use that stuff any more.

I've found the same experience with using veg. oil to season a pan. I now use butter.

Love, love, love a good baked potato, especially if it's home grown. during the winter, I get the coals just right in the wood stove, wrap a potato in foil, and bake it in the stove. It takes about 20 minutes to bake! I like to smother them with veggies, cheese, butter, sour cream... That's a good way to use up a little of this and a little of that. Best part of the potato is the skin! YUMMY!!!

I sometimes melt a little butter and inject the cooked potatoes with a large seasoning syringe, while they are still rolled in the foil. Adds the butter evenly and it is like a moist buttery welcome if your not expecting it. Sour cream, green onions, sharp ched chez, bacon bits.. oh my.

@lazy gardener and @Farmer Connie
:pop You are both making me hungry now.:gig:plbb
I don't have any of those cute potatoes right now, but considering making a trip to the grocery store just to satisfy my craving.:ya
I usually make my batch of grilled potatoes when we get a larger crowd of family together. This weekend its only DW and myself .

Potatoes are my go to lunch meal, when I'm home alone and want to pamper myself. Either baked in the wood stove, or cooked in the microwave, then split open and topped with cheese, and what ever veggies i have roaming around in the fridge. Sometimes I saute some kale, or other fresh garden veggies to put on top. I could make a whole meal out of a potato and veggies.

Got my nesting boxes situated finally! Reuse lumber and a bunch of shipping crates... Very easy clean out now. Pull down the crate, dump the hay and refill..
A lot easier than our last set up..
Hung them off the rafters. only a box of screws was purchased.
