Homemade Wine

Those bottles are so awesome!! Great gift ideas!! Wish you guys would post recipes!!! We made a few bottles of scuppernog wine one year, pretty good but strong smelling. I made kahlua last year and has a friend that makes sangria every year. The kahlua, like wine, is better and better the longer it sits and also is better if the very strongest, best coffee you can find is used, not the cheap stuff! I added fresh blueberries and sugar to vodka last year too and that was just "ok", nothing special but turned a nice color, lol! Good luck with your wines! Great thread you have started here!!!

I just found out that a lot of my family used to make theirs. I thought that was kinda cool. any way he just made a bach of apple for Christmas, said it only takes 3 months.

is kahlua always so sweet? I like to add a dash to my coffee at times

but I get kinda burnt out on it at times.

I need a good place to put it...how deep would I have to dig for a winter celler? just a thought

any tips or how to sites/books? I think I'm gona use apple or cranapple juice....who knows...

Kahlua is a bit sweet but really that, to me, depends on the coffee you use..it'll be stronger and more coffee tasting with Folgers or Maxwell house..or OMG, splurg and get the new instant Starbucks!!! Better coffee makes better tasting kahlua and you can regulate the amount of sugar in the recipe. There are hundreds of kahlua recipes on line and all probably come close in taste but for the background coffee flavor..can't use foodlion brand or family dollar coffee, has to be the stronger tasting coffee..I bet the starbucks would be soooooooooooooo good!!!!

Here's one I had bookmarked that I have used (just reduce the amount of sugar)...also, I have used good vanilla extract istead of trying to find a vanilla bean!! I'm having trouble with the link.. http://www.recipezaar.com/Kahlua-33535 anyway..Recipezaar.com...search for kahlua

We used to brew, I'd leave wine for 12-18 months or better. It's best to have 3-4 "batches" going, then ya never run out. Do some mean beer as well.

we started makeing wine last year. our first batch we placed 3rd in a winery homemade wine contest and got bronze placeing for sweet grape. the second batch of grape we got 1st place with at our local fair in aug for sweat grape. we just finished spiced apple and bottled it like i don't a mth or more ago i'd have to check date. they all r yummy.

We've tried Elderflower champagne- buts its more like paint stripper and it has no bubbles.

Unlike last years
