HOOSIERS Only - INDIANA - Ru1?

Well, hopefully if all goes well I'll have some in southwestern Indiana next year. I am planning on keeping 15-20 Dels, so I am sure I could hatch you some or send you some eggs next year if you are still interested in them.

I would love that! I've considered just ordering some from a hatchery to add to my golden comets this year but I don't have room for 25! more like 4-5 lol

New to this list. I'm in NE Indiana. We're looking for some call ducks, buff or pomeranian geese, and royal palm turkeys for our kids in 4-H. Any suggestions?

I'm Angie, 23, from the southwest side of Fort Wayne (Roanoke/Yoder). I had chickens when I was younger, but we lost our dog and our chickens became the neighbor's dog food.

Now my uncle and I have a 3 year old Lab, L.E. Mae, and in 3 days we will have 10-20 chicks (Mille Fleurs and Silkies).

I am still looking for some Frizzles as I prefer show chickens.

I was also considering getting Guineas this summer, but I heard they will hang out in trees and jump down on people!!! We have company over quite a bit so I've reconsidered.

If anyone knows where to get pine sawdust locally, please let me know!

I am not sure yet. These will be my first. Mrschickendad from MI sent me Millie Fleur Cochins and went ahead and left the frizzle hen in so I don't know which ones will he frizzles. There is also a swap meet in Kimmel starting soon. They sell a lot of animals and there may be frizzles there.

I have a free frizzle rooster. 4-H leader said it was a birchen. He is pretty, people brought him to my house last night, as their 2 roos got in a fight, we haven't cleaned him up yet, does have feathers on his back missing and blood on his face. But he is a very pretty boy and seems friendly. In good shape other wise

Hi again everyone!

I'm near Bloomington. I know this is kind of a long shot, but I'm looking for some broody hens - preferably Cochins or Silkies (the notorious broodies) but I will consider any individual hen that has proven herself to go broody a lot. I'd really like to have some chicks hatched naturally this season, and I only want a couple broody mommas, so I don't really want to order 25 chicks from anywhere =/ So please let me know if you're near Bloomington and happen to need a good home for someone who's too broody for your needs

Thanks!

ETA: Full size only, no bantams.

My babies are dying--anyone have any ideas? My first four hatches of the year went great--no splayed legs or curled toes--just the few that didn't pop out of the shell. They were active and healthy.
My last hatch had some splayed legs and curled toes, but all of the chicks were lethargic and not eating or drinking, so they are dying of apparent starvation and/or dehydration. They hatched last Friday through Sunday, and I haven't had to change the liner in the brooder yet. With nothing going in, nothing is coming out.
The only thing different this time was the first four were hatched in the bottom tray of my incubator (Sportsman); this time I had the hatcher (also a Sportsman) up and running. Temperature and humidity all checked out at the recommended levels.
I'm getting worried about all the eggs I have in the incubator now and those that I have coming. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them.
Judy
