It still makes my heart ache to see her poor little body in that condition. I am so glad that you found her when you did. I love the video of her taking a dust bath! She looks so happy rolling around in that box. It brought tears to my eyes to see her experiencing life as a pampered chicken.
So Hope does have a few new feathers coming in on her back now. half a dozen or so popping through. and 5 or 6 that are an inch or so on her tail sticking straight up. It looks so funny. I will have to get a photo of her tail. It will make you chuckle.
She does like the fermented feed, but not as much as the other girls and 'Bird do. They will eat themselves to death on it!!!!!! piggies. They do seem to all get along ok now, I can let them out all together, and they can hang out together inside the coop but I am still afraid to leave them all alone together for fear someone will pick her new feathers out before they get fully preened and she gets that sheath of stuff off them and we are back to square one. Once these few come in she gets some skin covered she will be fine with them.
I did not let her out with everyone this morning, it was 38 degrees out, not supposed to get much warmer and I dont want her being cold with all the bare skin. She is stuck inside today in her 1/3 of the coop with plenty of things to keep her busy scratching and eating. (her part of the coop is still 3 X 8 )Left me an egg in her box before I even left for work. I am getting about 5 - 6 eggs a week from her! Such a good girl she is.
It warms my heart to hear how good she is doing. Glad they like the FF she might start eating more as she gets use to it, at least she's getting some in her. Thanks again for sharing her story.
