I've been doing some research on how to keep water in the coop. I currently have the Solway Horizontal nipples on a small bucket in the brooder and it works GREAT. But the girls are getting too big and are anxious to get out to their coop.

I like the plans I've seen around where the bucket is outside the coop, a small hose goes into the coop and attaches to a PVC pipe where the nipples are attached.

But.. How do you Clean/sanitize that? Doesn't it start growing gross stuff after a while inside the pipe?

Very rough drawing of the plan:

The line is dark and filled with water that is not stagnant. If there were something inside, it would probably cause problems with the nipples so that you would notice. Otherwise, you could periodically flush the system with hot water. Consider that moss and such grows on the rocks in an otherwise safe stream of water.
