BeccaOH, the base was a little piece of filigree base metal that I found at JoeAnns. The one I used for my basket was bigger than this but, you get the idea:

EweSheep, I made some beads for a friend that only had small pieces of hair. I made 6 of them for her from her different horses. I wish that I had gotten a pic. of all of them. This is the first I tried to make so it wasn't the best but you get the idea. Might be kinda cool to make a charm bracelet from them. I don't really know what she did with them.

Really pretty stuff. There was a vendor at a festival here a few years ago that made some really pretty jewelry with horse hair. I mean rings and bracelets and things with gold and semi prescious gems. Just amazing what y'all can do...
