Horse Question

Never buy trouble, particularly when it comes to horses. You are just setting yourself up for a lot of heartache. The only way I personally would ever consider taking that horse is if he was free and all I wanted was a pasture ornament. I once had a horse that caught her foot in the fence when she was a yearling. Sometimes she was sound and sometimes she limped but we could never use her for anything. Fortunately for her, I had a lot of pasture and she was able to live her life out there. The best advice I or anyone can give you is to find yourself another horse. One that is sound.
Yeah I may have to do that. I am not super experienced but I am not a beginner either, so somewhere in the middle lol. But I think a horse with a hoof problem might be too hard for someone like me. He would be my first horse and I don't think I can afford a pasture ornament right now.

I’ve had horses since 1970. How old is this gelding? Is there an obvious deformity of the leg and or hoof? Is theIs horse already saddle broke and if so how broke vs your ability as a rider? My advice is to pass and look for the best conformed horse you can find. Even just pleasure riding the ability of the horse to do what you want without discomfort will make a huge difference in how pleasurable it is for both of you. Also eventually you may want to do more with your horse and you might as well have something that is capable of doing more with you.
Yeah those are really good points. Looks like I may have to pass.
