It really is insane! Especially since these were just trail horses, nothing special like barrel or cow horses or anything. Although they were “been there done that”, bombproof type horses and I guess a lot of people are looking for that and for just a sane, safe, trail horse so they can get away with those prices. But still
Bombproof, husband/kid safe, or anything like that regardless of being papered or not are going for big bucks because they are safe. Those type of horses are worth their weight in gold though if you have a kid or partner who is a beginner. Worth every penny to keep a beginner from getting hurt. You get what you pay for!

The cheap mare I bought has a lot of work before I would even let a beginner sit on her but she will be a nice one once I am done with her. If you have the time and knowledge to train, finding the diamonds in the rough are fun.

They’re adorable!!! But just out of curiosity, are there other benefits? I imagine there are. I just can’t think atm lol
easier keepers (less crazy diet and less prone to injuries (sometimes)), often better footing so great for trail rides, smarter, better endurance and stronger on average. hybrid vigor!

That’s good to know! Thanks! It makes sense. I’d love to find one and train it myself but I know I’m not ready for that yet.

yes, even though i cant realistically keep one right now. id love to work with one though
Ah that makes sense!

Thanks! That’s interesting!

Was just wondering how much are lessons on average over the pond for you guys?
I think average is about $60 for an hour for private? Some areas it’s only $40-$50 or even less and some areas it can be like $100 or $120. In my area it’s usually $75-$80 for 1hr private with some places being closer to $100.
