I always got room at my table. Got me a 23 pd turkey. I think tampa is the closest base to me. I am 45 mins east of tampa and 45 mins west of orlando.

I'd host someone as long as they aren't expecting a spotless house

I'm a great cook but short of vacuuming twice a day can't keep the dog hair off the floor. So I vacuum once a day and dim the lights

Don't think there are any bases close to us but figured it didn't hurt to offer.

I will gladly host a soldier, nothing would make me happier. I am about 2 hours south of Fort Lewis in Washington State. Don't know if anyone would like to come this far away but they are welcome but something to think about, we always celebrate Thanksgiving 2 days after the actual holiday due to out of town family so that no-one has to take any time off of work. Dinner will be on Saturday the 28th between 3-4pm. Just PM me if you have any questions or know of someone.

Do most bases not have their own host a soldier program? The base near home actually has families sign up around the area to take a soldier or two home with them on Thanksgiving to share a meal with their family, and the soldiers sign up if they'd like to participate. There's usually more families than there are soldiers to go around. My grandparents did this for several years until the family asked them to either stop or everyone would go elsewhere to eat. It just wasn't enjoyable, and I must look like a druggie or something because the soldiers would always ask me if I had any drugs I'd be willing to sell them, or if I knew someone who would. I like this idea better because it's a good bet you won't wind up hosting a creep. It's nice seeing so many people willing to open their homes.
