Houdans

I have a behavior question: Do the Houdans roost at night? Mine are pileing on the floor and they don't seem to try the roost in the day like the other babies either. They also often "miss" when they jump to sit on me. I know their vision is impaired due to the crest/beard but will they eventually become more coordinated?

I do not know the answer to your question, but if they are having trouble roosting b/c of vision, maybe they need shorter steps to help them get on the roost, or even a ramp.

Mine roost all the time. It could all depend on age, or if they are getting bullied off the roost at night. Mine started at week six.

They were roosting low before we merged the babies and the hens. Since we put them together, they pile on the floor with the silkie and some of the Favorelles. It think they just need to get their confidence in the new situation and also figure out that the roost are low enough for them to at least sit on the bottom ones without getting pushed off. They don't even seem to try out the outdoor roost during the day. They will jump up on the arm of my chair when I am sitting out with them, so I know they can make the roosts, they just don't right now. they are 12 weeks.

I think this one is a girl, she is bigger though

She got watermelon on her crest.

And I think this is the boy even though he is about 1/3 smaller then the girl

What do you guys think about gender?
