Couple of things come to mind as far as headaches go...Carbon Dioxide, which is odorless, and also there's a gas called Radon....Both can really be dangerous......

Hope you figure that out. I know they have detectors for carbon Dioxide, but I'm not sure what you would do for the Radon....Perhaps the local health dept would know how to detect the Radon.

I demanded a professional come to the house and check the furnace and the oil tank. .The furnace guy came yesterday and did a good cleaning and replaced some box part that was rusted out. He doesnt "do" fuel tanks, but he knows a little bit and he found that the lower rear of the tank is rusted and oil is saturating out of it, like a sponge, as well as a leaky valve. He relayed this to the landlord and she isnt happy but is looking at options to either switch us to propane or all electric. Electric would require upgrading/replacing the house wiring, which is really what I am hoping she chooses since we have had one close call with the old knob and tube wiring already.
