Here's my experience with the 1588. Went to bed at midnight with 19/44 hatched, and dozens more unzipping and pipped. Woke up at 3. It was strangely silent. Went to check on them, and none were moving. The thermometer said 67. I opened it up, and they were all cooked. I removed ~30 chicks to look for survivors and replaced the lid. I looked at the thermometer again and it said 105. 3 of the survivors are twitching and laying on their back in the brooder, likely with brain damage and one bird may make it.

IF the thermostat had not malfunctioned, I would have had a 90% hatch rate. I don't know if I got a defective one, but ~40 healthy beautiful birds were pointlessly cooked alive in a Styrofoam coffin because of this thermostat. I am waiting to hear back from GFQ to see how they respond. All I know, is if I get a replacement, I don't want one from the same lot of components used to manufacture mine. My serial # is 0713. I'd be curious to hear if other people who are having problems with these thermostats have a serial number close to mine. Maybe a defective batch of components?
