We loose members because they think we are too lenient on religious and political posts
We loose members because they think we are too strict on religious and political posts
Does anybody else think that with 50 new members per day signing up that we must already be doing something terribly right to be so evenly split between the two groups?
At the end of the day, the goals of BYC are:
1) To help people help their chickens
2) To keep as many of you engaged with the site as possible. (Why? So when people come here with questions, there will be members here to answer those questions. Keeping the site a social place, beyond just chickens, ensures that this happens).
I don't expect any drastic changes to take place. BYC has grown very well and has been a super wonderful and friendly place because of the rules and policies that have been reworked for about 10 years. With that said, we're not ridged and unable to learn and grow. At the end of the day we'll do what is best for our community and for their chickens!

I agree 100%. I come here to learn about chickens, not somebody's political and or religious opinions/beliefs. There are other forums especially for those two topics, and this supposedly is not one of them.
As usual I typed my opinion on this thread and then deleted it....that's what I usually do when a thread on religion or politics catches my eye.
I feel better because I expressed myself but no one is offended at my reply.
If I were going to vote for a ban, I would place my vote for a ban on stupid topics like 'count as high as you can before moderator posts' or 'change one letter' that goes on for months. I cant tell you how sick and tired i am of asking a question and logging on 2 hours later and no ones answered my question about a chicken but the counting thread is still alive and strong.
Everybody dislikes something, and if we ban everything that somebody dislikes it would be a real quiet and pretty useless forum.
