Honestly, when I stumbled across this site (not all that long ago) it looked like most others I have been on....a reasonable mixture of christian and non-christian people talking about a common interest. I loved (and love) it here. HOWEVER, if I had found it now I would have NEVER joined. Thre religious overtones are getting so smothering one has trouble taking a breath. I feel like I have walked into the middle of a church service most of the time. As an atheist stuck in the bible belt, I get bashed enough at home.....I think it has gotten wayyyyyyyyyy out of control.

I remember someone suggesting option 3 before. While I don't understand needing one for a chicken forum, I thought it was a good idea for people who feel they need to discuss it, and prefer discussing it with the BYC community rather than others. My concern would be for the poor mods . . . it's hard enough keeping people civil when they're discussing whether silkies are evil or not. Poor mods

I honestly feel that so long as it's made known that it's not welcome, it will eventually die out... either they will realize that it's not welcome and control themselves, or they will eventually get fed up with being asked not to do it that they will leave.....


Bans aren't really the answer, I don't believe..... and believe me, I hear what you all are saying.... I don't like it either. I'm not Christian and I don't like being "thumped".... but at the same time... honestly, what harm does it do to me? I just ignore it when it's on here. seems the quickest way to end it is to ignore it and it QUICKLY gets filed away under all of the new posts that ARE chicken related

I am sorry but I just don't get it!!! First let me say I like religion and hate politics! So I avoid the political threads and read the other wonderful things on this forum. There are some things that dont pertain to me such as other livestock threads , meat birds and such. It really is this simple.... If you don't like whats on TV, turn the channel. If you don't like the thread, don't read it! It seems this topic keeps reappearing! Can we ban that!?

a seperate section would be pointless...the same thing would just happen again and again...and again..and again...(i think you get the idea) espically if the no flaming/trolling rule would still apply, they would just get shut down because people just get to worked up about religion and politics( and always have.....and always will.....)just my thoughts though...Peace, Wendy

I do realize that flakey chick, but it seems to be the adults that usually cause the chaos with these topics. The kids are the ones smart enough to leave them alone.

You also made an excellent point about the mods. They do do an excellent job in keeping things in check! Thumbs up to the mods!

I am against any such ban. The last time I checked, we still have the right to individual preferences, choices and opinions, not to mention freedom of religion. I see no reason why someone cannot voice those. If you do not wish to involve yourself or hear another's view and/or opinion do not open the thread or do not reply.

As to religious avatars, I personally am sick and tired of having to worry about insulting someone else's religious beliefs. we still have the right to freely choose our religion/belief system. Believe what you wish and I shall do the same. If you do not like my choice, do not associate with me or speak to me, accept me as I am or do not accept me but don't insult me by thinking your choice is the only Right choice.

In short...be true to yourself and do not waste time worrying about the opinions of others because we all know about opinions.
