How About a Jumbo Co Op

However, since we are frugal quail keepers and all, I'd suggest this instead...

I've joined the Co-Op. In 12 weeks I'll know how large my birds have grown and will have culled out the smallest ones. I plan on raising roughly 100 at a time and keeping back the 20 that have the best growth at butcher age. The rest will be sold or consumed. Ideally, I want a new generation of quail every 12 weeks.

Then once I get my quail to be consistantly 16oz I will be charging a modest fee of $279.82 per egg to help break even on all of my fees.

My quail shall make chukar look small and the eggs will be as a bantam chicken's. I shall dub them Coturnix Japonizilla.

As far as I am concerned, even if I don't hit 16oz or 24oz I will still be improving my quail and learning a lot as I go along. And it will be fun.

A&Ms will be paltry shadows when placed beside my behemouths. My quail will gobble down other strains whole then after the feast be hitched up to my carriage so that I can be whisked away to work every morning.

Provided Moby Quail aren't too fat and lazy to be cart trained. I figure if I dangle food in front of them I'll be able to get them to take me anywhere.

And yes, I forgot the best part. This will be an incredibly tasty adventure in hatching out the legendary Moby Quail. I encourage others to join up. Provided you don't do anything silly like spend thousands of dollars on eggs, what have you got to lose? Even if your quail average a half an ounce more than they did when you started, you still improved your birds. _And_ you will get to participate in writing the cookbook "Quail A Day: 365 Ways To Convince Your Family They Haven't Eaten Enough Quail This Year."

What more could a person ask for?

Omniskies, I would be happy to provide you with some eggs to start your venture. They will be only $899.98 per egg. I guarantee nothing about them except that they'll be quail eggs. In order to make your venture yet more interesting, I might even be tempted to send button quail eggs for that price.

Think of all the money you'll make later, selling eggs for $279 each!

That is awfully tempting. After all, who wouldn't want 16oz Buttons?

I accept your offer. But considering the sensitive nature of expensive eggs and the cold weather, I must ask that they are hand delivered in a climate controled case that has a combination lock only the two of us know (bonus points if you arrive via quail chariot).

After all, I wouldn't want anyone swapping the eggs mid-trip.

Hmmm. Looks like it would be a one day trip there and back. Wal-mart sells brief cases with combination locks, I'd imagine. Hot hands would be climate control. I can get some magnets with quail on them and stick them to my car, and maybe some magnet letters that say quail chariot...

Yep for $900 per button quail egg, I'd do that. Heck, I'll even give you a special BYC 10% discount.

Heck, for that price, I'd even deliver the eggs daily. I could quit my day job...

Whoa now. Why am I now getting charged $900 per egg?

That might actually top the old, beat up dark blue car I once saw that was completely covered in those tiny silver star stickers that teachers give out for A papers. We're talking top to bottom coated in these stickers in little swirly patterns. I can't imagine how many hours it took for them to pull it off and really wish I had taken a picture. It was gaudy and oh-so awesome.

As a forgotten update, I have my first batch of Parents-of-F1 Coturnix Japonizillas in the incubator. I have told them of the naysayers that exist and have demanded that they blossom into babies that will grow to be huge and happy. Any who do not do my bidding have been threatened with the freezer. It's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure I got my message across to them.

I'm excited to see how many quail are confident enough to hatch out and become behemouths.
