Not sure where to post this info. Monday I am off to my breeders to pickup all the eggs from the White sports that he saved for me when I asked. He is no longer going to keep them. Will ask him for the birds also, if he hasn't culled them yet, just in case I need more. I am also picking up more M Gold eggs to increase my numbers fast. I have over 35 females of the Jumbo Browns at different ages for breeding, so should be enough to keep the line going. He has asked for eggs from my Jumbo Browns at a later time.

So DH is furiously building a few 3 x 10 comune pens for raising them. I will select my breeders from their larger pens and use the smaller breeder pens for collecting hatching eggs in the future. Will have to stock up on 6 different colors of the little wire ties to use for each of the color varieties.

I still don't know if my birds are of a good size because of their blood line or if its the way I raise and breed them. We won't know that until my eggs go out and you have hatched, raised them and selected your breeders, hatched and raised at least 1 more generation. The first birds that you get from my eggs will give you an idea, but its the next generation that will let you know if you see improvement in their size and their meat.

I started with the birds expecting 10 Oz at 6 weeks and 12 Oz at 7 weeks. Then I had to change their goal. My F1's were 12 Oz at 6 weeks and 14 Oz at 7 weeks and more consistent in size. They obviously get larger, but I do not weigh beyond 7 weeks and have no plan to do so. So these birds are capable of being BIG birds. The babies from the last hatch, Jan1, are larger than previously and doing well. Check the Jan 1 tread for that info.

I received the first order of quail egg foam. They are the right depth. However, I have to force my eggs in and cannot. They just don't fit and I will have to be careful with the height of some of the eggs.

I have a second set that included Pheasant egg foam that I ordered last week. Until they get here, I still have nothing to ship them in.

I am still waiting on my other pheasant foam to come in. In the mean time. I figure I would get you guys talking together about how to get them big and keep them there. And so that you can pair up to trade eggs and get together with breeding plans. I am sure you are going off in different directions, too. Because there are more than 1 way to breed Coturnix. But you have to know who is in the CO-OP. Hope I am not out of line here. But how else are you going to know.

So People that I know of that have said they will join the CO-OP. I will be sending eggs to the following.

Diggypaws
Riverotto and I think they are already trading.
Omniskies
Robo
Ris55555
Mhwc56

Fat Daddy has said he will join if someone needs someone to trade with, he is getting my eggs.

There are also 2 in FL that want the eggs, but I have put them on the back burner for now as there are 2 in FL that are getting eggs already. Someone, need someone in FL to trade, plot and plan with?
All 12 are spoken for, but.

The other 5 have either said they want eggs but do not want to join or have not let me know and may not.

So next week I am going to read over what I have written up and I know I have to look up one article that I got info from and get ready to send the " this is what I did" memo. Hope it helps you. This way you can start plotting and planning, building those pens or changing them and just getting ready for Spring. Because as soon as my girls are back in a full laying way, then their eggs are heading out. In something.

Could you's keep this current, so I don't have to dig to deep to find it. Besides, others may want to know what your going to try. I don't know what the plan is or if there is one.
