How about a Thread for Embdens?

Today it is 48* no sun but still pretty nice, so Sammy started off with a really good bath..... until Missy decides she wants to get in too. I guess he's still scared of girls

Pretty girl! Love the rock around the pool too. I really need to get something like that done here.
Well I have to share this because Sammy is the Embden and even though it pertains to Missy to he started it, I was outside looking at the paper and Sammy and Missy were standing on the patio just a few feet from me, when i look up and Sammy is climbing on Missys back, To Mate most likely, well first time i have seen this and first time for Missy too because she hollers and takes off running and it scared Sammy so much he took off running after her. I just sat there and laughed. So strike 1 for Sammy. He tried. I was trying so hard to get the camera out of my pocket so i could share the loving moment. Botched that one.

Cute story!

Yesterday, we had temps up to 48 degrees with sunshine. In January? In Maine? Lol, oh yeah...bring it on! The snow and ice was melting quickly and running through my yard as little streams and forming small ponds and puddles. Knowing this was the last warm day for a while I filled their kiddie pool and mixing trough so they could clean up and swim. I had the pen door open as I was taking care of the morning chores and the ducks and geese decided to go walk a bout. Who needs a kiddie pool when we've got puddles, right? Silly buggers, they had a ball! Tromping through the snow from one water spot to the next screeching and flapping and having a heck of a good time. When it was finally time to put them back into their pen it was hard telling the difference between the Embdens and the Toulouse they had gotten themselves so filthy. Sorry, no pictures. I was busy working on another project and didn't even think to run for the camera.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. and 48 wow that must have broken some records.

Well I am happy to announce that Sammy and Missy finally consummated their relationship this morning while I was getting breakfast for dh and myself. I didn't witness but heard Sammy doing his after mating hoot LOL . Hopefully this will get his attention off the ducks, and soon everyone can be let out together again.

wonderful story Haunted55

That's great Miss L! I've found that the Embdens are a bit slower in that department as compared to the Toulouse or the Chinese. Mine are just starting as well and are acting like it's a first date, lol. I have a feeling they'll get over it soon enough.

I don't know if it did or not but the geese are looking at me today as if it's my fault there isn't nice warm temps. We did have a bit of sun earlier but the next front is already moving in. Ah well, Spring is coming.....someday.

Yes everyday we get closer. you'd think my ducks and geese would be loving all this rain we have been getting the last few days, but nope they are standing out there looking like lawn ornaments. Okay I'm ready for some sunshine.

My girl seems to have put on a few pounds. Most of it, I think, is just filling out to her adult size and weight. Some of it though, I think is from less grazing available so eating more feed. I'm going to try to make a hot box or 2 to grow some greens/wheat grass for her, she has an acre to roam over and gets plenty of exercise and what little grass there is for her to nibble on. They get peas a few times a week, and I've cut back to just a little corn. Should I add more oats in with her feed? Poor little plump goose, lol.
