I've been wondering, I've seen other articles, but they keep saying 6 x 8 or 8 x 8, but 8 ft x 8 ft? or 8 in x 8 in? Please tell me!

PS. Also don't add the run to the equation!!

There are variables to account for when you're planning on coop size. Do you have winter and do you plan to keep the birds cooped for that duration? Do you have a run and plan to let the chickens into it every day?

I've kept six full size birds in a 4x4 coop but they had a run and that run was protected on two sides with tarps for winter, birds were let out every day. That small is doable but can lead to integration problems if you cycle out/in birds. The larger the coop the easier adding new birds is. If you plan to coop birds for extended periods of time a much larger coop is needed, 8x8ft wouldn't be bad for six birds.

I'm here in the SF Bay, where we don't get snow often at all. The last time I have had snow here was around 13 years ago???

Here is the chicken coop I have, I'd thank you some much if you'd research how many chickens could fit in this?https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008E15UZ...t=&hvlocphy=9031984&hvtargid=pla-275681477031

It says your coop is 12 sqft but that could include the square footage of the nest box. The dimensions listed are 33" x 50" which gives a footprint of 11.45 sqft, square footage would be minus the walls.

Personally I wouldn't put more than 2 chickens in that coop, no way would I put 6, even if they had 24/7 access to a run.

Also the company uses small toy chickens in their photos but you can see in a customer photo how small that coop is relative to 2 real chickens. It's kind of deceptive advertising, imho.
