How big/small is your town?

Although we live in the county, the nearest town is 27,000 people and hasn't changed much in the 30+ yrs we've lived here. However, for some odd reason, we have the biggest darned WALMART in the state of KY and it's the third largest in the whole country (or it was when the built it a few yrs ago anyway). Why, I have no idea, but we all hate it.

Out where we live, we have 'neighbors' on either side, each about 1/4 mile away in each direction, nobody to the back, just cornfield, nobody across the road, more cornfield...that's how we like it. And we moved 'closer to town' about 13 yrs ago - not really to be closer to town, just to a bigger house.

5592 is what Bessemer City, NC shows. We're in the agricultural district - already got our chickens, planning goats & cattle!

As of the 2000 census, Escanaba had about 13,000 people. Third largest city in the UP of Michigan. And it is DEFINITELY not a big city

The entire UP only has 3% of Michigan's population. I guess nobody wants to live in a frozen wasteland. Oh well, more open space for meeeee!

We are growing fast, 286 people in our town when everyone is home.

One signal light out on the highway, no police department, no grocery store, one tiny gas station.

If I order eggs or chicks, and we aren't home, the mailman just brings them in the house and sets them on the kitchen table for us.

Gets much more crowded and I'm moving to the country.

We live 7-miles NW of the town our zip code is associated with. The town's zip code population is [allegedly] 2563, but I think they're counting everyone in the cemetery too! Our little town provides services for many of the much smaller surrounding towns! (including schools, Post Office, library, dining, etc) We have no stoplights, but two different 4-way stop signs with a third going in. We also have one very old movie theater still operational, one grocery store, one gas station, one bank, not sure how many churches or bars (but more than one of each!), and our PD serves many of the smaller surrounding towns as well! Most of the businesses there are in old houses along the main street.

Oh man, I can't believe I just said I thought 1,000,000 was small

I've always wanted to live in a bigger city with all the lights and train lines running under the streets, but I'm growing to like it here.
