How big/small is your town?

Census 2006 - population was 1368. We do have quite a few stores for that small of a village though.. Two banks, grocery, drug store, bakery, cafe, restaurant, 2 gas stations, TIM HORTONS (a must), Subway, and a couple cute little shops. We used to be bigger. Our town was destroyed by fire twice.. When it destroyed a department store, it really went downhill. I love it though!

ETA: We don't have any traffic lights. We have a major city 25-30 min away. It has everything we need.. I would not want to live in the city again. I love not having to worry about someone breaking into my car at night!

No bank, no stop lights, 8 churches, no liquor store (dry county) and no police. The town just north of us has two police officers - the chief and a patrol officer - but only because Tyson has a processing plant there and pays the LEOs salaries. We do have a stop and rob (convenience store) but only stop there and pay their highway robbery prices when we don't think there's enough gas in that day's vehicle to make it to the next nearest town; which has 5,700 people.

I think my 'town' has 28 or thirty people. We have 3 churches and 2 stores. They took our school a few years ago, and they are about to close the post office.

I remember hearing stories of back in the day, when most people kept their savings in boxes under the bed

2,025 at the 2010 census. We have one gas station, one red light, a "grocery store", bank, post office, and a fire department.

I'm further out-it takes me 5 minutes to get to the town from my home.

That's a total myth.

We use mason jars buried in the yard.

I'm so rich I use a half-pint jelly jar for my savings, and still have room for a half-pint of jelly in the jar.

When my grandfather died, we found close to $6,000 dollars he tucked away at the very top and back of his kitchen cabinets.

That's amazing, what you find. You hear about people discovering all sorts their relatives have stuffed in a corner somewhere.
