How can I get them to eat eggs?

I am so frustrated! We got our first chickens this spring. I was looking forward to when we would finally get eggs. My husband thought at the end of this month. We have been getting them for about a month now. Yay sex links! Since we started getting them my family is having a hard time eating them. They refuse to eat any eggs now. Until this weekend we still had some store bought eggs. I fed them to the dogs and chickens. Now if my family wants to eat eggs they must eat our fresh eggs. Today I had to make my husband his morning egg burrito. He is "grossed out" by them. I figure it will take time to get used to the idea of having fresh eggs. Today my son refused to eat his egg burrito. My daughter hasn't wanted to eat eggs for about a month now. When I tried them for the first time it was weird. It didn't stop me from eating them though. I like them. I can't eat all the eggs my girls lay though. Is there any thing I could do to get my family to eat them? It make me mad to think of the work I put into these chickens and they think it's weird.

I know that this happens, but I just don't understand? People do know where eggs come from - so why the problem? Yours are fresher and healthier than any they can buy at the store or eat at the local diner - and God forbid Mc Donald's egg Mcmuffins

Lie to them. Get some store bought eggs and pretend you're using those. After they've eaten a few things, show them your duplicity.

I would sit down and ask them what in particular is distasteful. Is it just the darker (and richer) yolks? That's one of the reasons I personally love fresh eggs from healthy chickens. I can actually make yellow cake recipes now without needing artificial colors added.

Discuss, as a family, the benefits of home grown eggs versus store bought, including the health and care of chickens. Get the family more involved in the process. If you bake a yellow cake from scratch (and discuss why you can make yellow cake with fresh eggs), that alone might get them interested. The more people are involved in their food, the more they start taking further interest and appetite in it.

I would not lie or trick your family into eating them. I know so many people who will not eat a certain food simply because they still get a bitter feeling from being deceived into eating that food. Children you might get by with it, but older kids, teens, and adults, you are likely just to strengthen their unwillingness to eat that food type.

Other than that, I agree with Accent. Enjoy your awesome eggs and pocket any money made on selling them.

I would show some pics/videos of the conditions for the hens the store eggs come from.If that does not switch them I do not know what would work. I recall we went through the same thing,and that was before we even had FERTILIZED eggs. Now I just joke and say," Oh look fertile.Jackie Chan has been busy."

We don't have eggs right now due to molting and so I wormed too.It will be hard to buy and eat the store eggs!

If nothing helps just enjoy them yourself.Ditto on baked items made from fresh eggs. I would not go out of my way to bake 2 cakes just because the family would not eat the egg in one.I have a neighbor who refuses to eat fresh eggs. Guess it just grosses her out.To each their own!

I, too, am surprised at how folks react to home grown eggs. And to be perfectly honest I was reluctant to eat my home grown eggs but made myself get over it.
