It totally does! Gives you much more control over the dog.I like these kinds of leashes for walking. That extra loop comes in very handy.

Today, I actually got him on an almost two hour walk and occasionally run. We had gone somewhere, and he took a nap in the van before we even left. I don't know if I could always do the 45 minutes to an hour all the time. The purpose of it all is for him to get his exercise and to wear him out, not me.Yeah that’s understandable! I would definitely try to do as long a one as you can though if possible. I sometimes go for like 45 mins to an hourthough of course I know not everyone can do that haha
You don’t have a fenced yard to let him in? Or one you could take him to? You could always get a long line and use that to exercise him. That way he can run and explore but still be safe. I have a 50 foot one and I think 30 ? Ish feet but they make them as small as like 10, 15, 20 or up to like 75, even 100 feet. So I’d get one of those if you can so he can run cause I think it’d be good.
Or you could get a bike attachment for him and try biking? That’s pretty fun, easy, and laid back and more tiring than walking alone. Or you could even try bikejoring or skijoring where they’re in front and pulling but that does require training. The side attachment thing you basically just hook them up and go haha
And no problem! That’s totally understandable and actually quite smart but I just figured I’d explain since a lot of people are afraid of them or whatever but don’t really know much about them or how they work. Which is totally understandable but I just figured I’d explain.![]()

Ok. Now I've been around sled dogs, my concern would be if he decided to suddenly pull for whatever reason, would that cut off cerculation and/or rip off a hand or finger? I was told to always be careful around lines or leashes because the dog might do that.I do the same when walking a dog by gathering up the slack of the leash in my hand, and putting the tension on the appropriate place to 'shorten' the leash. This also allows them to not get tangled if that is an issue
It is old. I've had it for several years and I got it second hand. It's been around for awhile. That is a valid concern with a leash, especially if it is old.
Ok. The threads are letting go on the handle, and I haven't walked her that much, yet.If it hasn't broken for her, I would consider it fine to use with Sterling until you can get a new one in whatever color you like, that has no risk of a handle breaking.
Ohhhh, ok. Cool! Do dogs wish they can get technicolor?I'm not an expert on dog vision, but I believe that they can see different shades of blue, yellow, and everything else is different shades of grey, and they can also process light, depth, and shadow (unless they have vision issues). It's not like they don't see everything else (pink leash isn't invisible) but their eyes just process it differently. Think of it like a black and white movie, with some colors filled in.
Ok, it opened. I had to click on it a couple of times though. Ok.That's weird.
It is a link to a 6 foot leash that has a second loop closer to the dog. I use that style of leash for walks. It gives me a lot more control when near traffic and when other walkers approach.
Trying a different leash but still on Amazon link.

I do prefer (require) the lower loop to be 2 foot from the dog. My dogs are LONG and if the loop is to close I am tripping on them trying to grab it.
I don't believe so- not if you're holding the leash the way that I am.Ok. Dogs can only see shades of blue, yellow, and grey![]()
That’s awesome!!! Sounds fun. And you’ll get more in shape.Today, I actually got him on an almost two hour walk and occasionally run. We had gone somewhere, and he took a nap in the van before we even left. I don't know if I could always do the 45 minutes to an hour all the time. The purpose of it all is for him to get his exercise and to wear him out, not me.I'm already feeling it in my legs from all the walking and running I've done with him and I haven't even had him that long!
Yeah, I don't have one or one that I can take him to. He's very used to being indoors a lot from his previous owners. He seems to do good with the exercise that I do with him. Yesterday I wasn't able to take him out as long as I usually do, and it showed. He was hyper last night. Tonight, all he wants to do is sleep.
My Mom said something about taking him biking. I love to go biking, so this is a possibility. Just one thing. I've watched 101 Dalmatians, the none cartoon one. I'm a little nervous on trying such a thing because what if the same happens. If I do the biking with him, how can I do it safely?
Ok. Yeah, I'm afraid to use them, plus I've seen them not work so many times. You did clear up some confusion on that, which I'm very grateful for. Thank you.![]()
