How can you get a chicken to like you? Iny ideas?

what my chickens like is baby tomatoes. They just run after them. It is so funny to watch. But not all chickens like the same thing though. But I suggest you try it and try ots of other things to!!

All of my 5 week old chicks run away from me. Now that they have the house and run, they hide in the bushes when I come out. They will come for mealworms....peck and run away fast. These chicks have been loved and not abused, not chased, not ignored. I know I need to be able to handle them to check for health problems etc, but how do I do this? Is it their age and inexperience? Natural skittishness? Or did I make some mistake I'm unaware of? Whatever the answer, I need to "win" them back! Is the solution to just keep up with mealworms everyday?

Well first of all, what breed are they?

If anyone was wondering, my little pullet I was talking about a year ago is now my favorite hen. Her name is Ebony and she loves snuggles! She's a house chicken and is super sweet. She loves to be held and is extermely social. Whenever she wants to come inside she squawks and screams her head off until we let her in.

They come to the gate now, when they see me. Do they love me? Nah...they love the mealworms I bring! Fine with me, as long as there's a way to get them close when I need them, I don't care why. I have (hopefully all girls): Ameraucana, barred rock, silver laced wyandotte, cochin, blue laced red wyandotte, australorp.

But I have the same experience as xshoshin, they only love me for the food.
