Hello everyone! I purchased 6 black sex-linked pullets (I thought) about 3.5 months ago. All chicks were black with no spot on any of the heads. However, 2 have grown super fast with nice full combs and wattles, big yellow feet, and feathers more colorful than the girls, although they are without barring. They are 20% larger than the girls. And I found out today they have the ability to crow nice and loud. They were sold as Rock Reds but I’m thinking maybe they are a 2nd generation cross (BSL x BSL)? The girls look like classic BSL pullets. What do you think about the cockerels pictured below? BSLs also?

I saw a pic on the internet that looks exactly like the 1st pic above that was called a hybrid of black copper marans on RIR. Can you tell if he is BCM x RIR or BSL x BSL or some other mix? Is it standard for feed store to sell F2 BSL that aren’t sex-linked?
