How did you come up with your screen name?

My name!!! All my older family members call me by my first and middle name--Judy Mae. A little known fact-named after both grandmothers. Mother's mom is Judy with no middle name so I got her first name. Daddy's mom was Georgia Mae so I got her middle name! Sounds redneck I know. My sister is Christi Lou! We both have redneck names. Named our daughter Alyssa Mae! Found out later that 'Mae' has been in the family for over 7 generations! I'm glad I decided to pass it on to Alyssa!

I used LuckysMom because he follows me around like I'm his mother hen. He is Lucky because he was the last chick to hatch out in my classroom. He almost didn't make it. He worked on his shell all day, and had a big crack all around it but couldn't break free. Right after school I asked our custodian to come and take a look at the egg. He's a smart old guy and I figured he'd have some advice. He looked through the window of the incubator and said "Lift the lid." So I did, and he reached his big old gnarly hands in there and pulled the shell right off Lucky! The kids that were hanging around gasped and so did I! Lucky made pitiful peeping noises and didn't move much. I really didn't think he'd make it. But he perked up within a few hours and was just fine. Also, of the four chicks I took home, he was the only one to survive the dog attack. So he really is Lucky.
BTW justusnak: teaching is my second career - I retired from the USAF.

Well my name is a combination of a couple different things. Thunderstruck is a name of a song by one of my favorite rock groups..AC/DC. And i guess for me it represents the realization i came to about the time my father passed away (2002) and i started really getting into my family's genealogy and history, their values and whats was important to them. And that there is better way than the way that most of us (Americans in general) are expected to live and act in this messed up society. IMHO we are expected to live through everybody else's way of life and judged basically on how big your house is or how new your car is. Heaven forbid that somebody actually might have a unique thought or do things just a little bit different today than most of what society deems "normal & acceptable". I think that most today are so out of touch with whats really important that their lives no longer make any sense. I like to refer to these people as plastic and or sheep lol. Thats one of the (many) reasons why i like to hang here..We all seem to march to a different drummer and our own beat. and to he11 with what everybody else thinks. Maybe i am the one out of whack and the rest of the world is normal lolol. Sorry for the rant

OBTW..No, im not a hippy

I second that! Especially living in Las Vegas(I read that you used to live here in Sin City too!). I grew up in the midwest and spent my teen and college years in California and somehow ended up in Vegas and I can't wait to move! It's so superficial here in Vegas. My kids go to a private school and boy do my husband and I feel out of place among the Bentleys, Benz's and Hummers, but it's a strong academic school, so we sacrifice that!!!

We're on the two year plan to move to Colorado and I'm counting down the days...

What an interesting thread! I think mine is pretty self-explanatory: I love nature and try to live my life and raise my kids as naturally as possible. I normally use my first name (Thea), but when I first tried to register using that name, the email account I was using must have been somehow incompatible with this site: I never got a password emailed to me, and I could not get my emails to the admin. to go through, so I tried again with my other email address and had to come up with a different name since my usual one was taken from my previous attempt. The specific phrase, "naturemom" is from a prediction (an accurate one) made by a friend of mine in highschool about what I would be like as an adult.

I totally agree with you Thunderstruck! I hate being judged by my house and car. I have what I want and if I wanted something different I would work to get it. I make my decisions for me not my neighbors.

Nothing too dramatic here.

I post on a couple other sites. Mostly Precious Metals related. I collect Silver Bulllion. I drive and LOVE my Jeep, soooo when it came time for my handle;

SilverJeep just made sense.

...incidentally, my Jeep is green.

Well, one day I just couldn't control my fertile brain's flow of creative juices -- they poured out onto the keyboard and gave birth to my phenomenally inventive screen name.
