Mine is Baldie which is kind of corny, but he is my favorite cockrel, all my other chickens attacked him when he was a baby, they actually got most of his feathers off, and then even some skin, I babied him for a long time, and now he is the cuddliest cockrel ever!!! He is a Black cochin. And when I say he cuddles, I mean cuddles, and doesn't want to be put down!! He's sooo cute!
Chrissie is my real name!

Miss Bear was my rottweiler I rescued from the human society where I worked in Saranac Lake, NY. She was pretty aggressive and terrified and some how bonded to me instantly. She would only would let me in her cage to feed her and then would cry til I came back in and sat with her....sometimes for hours. I couldn't bare leaving her alone at night so...

I took her home and she and I became best friends til she passed of bone cancer in 2003. My husband and I and my father buried her on the family farm. I still cry everytime I hear our song...by Cheryl Crow hahahaha We used to ride together in my car, (Miss Bear loved riding shotgun) sunroof down, her head on my shoulder and both singing along:)

It was a relationship of a lifetime. My husband and I miss her dearly. Luv u Miss momma Bear

Missouri born and raised. Family is All there and (if you can't tell) I get pretty home sick for them. If dh said "let's move" I'd be there is 2 seconds. You can take the gal out of Missouri, but you can't take the Missouri way out of the gal......I love Georgia, but Missouri is in my heart!

Ok, so here's the AWWWWW story for everyone.
My last name is Lockhart, but Hubby and I were high school sweethearts, split up and got back together 20 something years later. We both still loved each other just as much as we did all those years ago. So when we decided to come up with a Farm Name for our Horses & dogs, LockedHearts was natural.

Yep, that's it!

Well... Back when we were in high school, and computer login names were limited to 7 characters, DH's school required him to use the first 5 letters of his last name (Schmidt) followed by his first and middle initials (S & M). He became 'schmism'. He used this when he joined BYC, so when I joined, I followed the same logic and became 'schmije'.

I started poultry with ducks for catching flies. They layed eggs and would not set. So I barrowed the neighbors bator and hatched some muscovies.

(another story another time).

Then the next year was peafowl, red and yelow golden pheasants eggs ordered off of ebay.

This year I've kept 2 going from early spring -chickens, pea eggs and quail (bob white, corturnix, button) I put it up in late august not to bring it out till spring.
