How did you come up with your screen name?

I live in a swamp and have ducks. My only decision was plural or singular?

My screen name is the name of my little henhouse ~ Le Coop D' Etat! I love puns, plays on words, etc.

I try to come up with fun names for the chickens, too. We've had Hennibal, General Gao Chicken, Chickita, Attila the Hen, Decibelle ( the loud one) as well as lots of people from history and mythology. I love chickens and chicken names!

I'm sort of a geek. Hard to believe, I know..... but true....
I like to tinker and build things and I don't sleep much.

I built a seismic monitoring station from scratch in my basement a while back.
When my so called "Friends" found out about it they started calling me "The Seismic Wonder" like a super hero.
"Never fear, Seismic Wonder is here!"

BasicLiving comes from our website, and our struggle to get back to basic living. My husband and I grew up as country kids - and left for "greener pastures" at young ages. As we are being dragged toward 50, kicking and screaming, we realized that with all we had struggled to achieve, we had left behind a kinder, simpler, and happier life. We're getting back to that now - and happier than we've ever been.

Wow! I didn't have time to read them all, but I will! I am afraid my story isn't that interesting! My hubby is 8 years younger than I am. I always tell him he is just my young stud and I am ,well,, his old wife.( I HATE the term old lady) Maybe because in this case its true! He tells me, Oh you are still a young chick! I was new to chickens when I first posted so the name the chicken chick was hatched!!

My grandpa was a lumberjack, and my grandma was a lumber camp cook. They used to raise chickens, mostly to put food on the table for 9 kids. When I was a young child, I didn't pay much attention to the "old ways," just enjoyed playing in their yard. Now I wish I could go "BACK IN TIME" to visit with them and learn everything they knew about homesteading . . . and life! BYC is the next best thing.

Mine is pretty self-explanitory, I think. My son's name is Will.. and being from the south, he has always called me Mama or Mommy. (Now that he's 14, it's kind of switched to Mom, which I hate.. it's too generic!) And of course, the 93 is for the year he was born! It's also my gmail addy!

I have longed all my adult life to live on a hobby farm w/goats and chickens. Finally last year, my husband and I bought 18 mostly wooded acres from my grandmother on the edge of town. She lives on the remainder of her property and our house is being built down the gravel drive past her place. To have two houses on this driveway and give us both an address, the county designated it a private road and let us name it. My grandmother, who is 95 and always wanted this land to stay in the family, named the road Legacy Lane. I got my first chicks in 20 years last month!

I chose Sunny Side Up because:

>Most of my 75 or so chickens are laying hens

>I live in Florida, the Sunshine State

>I try to be optimistic!

However, I don't like to eat eggs cooked that way, I prefer scrambled, which is a fitting description too...
