How did your chicken get it's name?

Only a few of mine have names
Lovey because she is
Gulley an EE who looks like a seagull
Randy the roo because well he is rather randy!

My hen was named Rooster because of her comb.
She is a California White.

Here she is:

I have a mutt rooster named Traveler. He was given to me by Speckledhen

He rode all the way home on my shoulder in the car so I named him that since he seemed to enjoy traveling and looking out the window.

Our have some wierd names
Iggie: it rhymes with biggie (she's huge) we now call her Mother because she raised 6 chicks
Presto: my sister named her this don't ask me why
Tina Ballerina: she's the smallest (though demon possessed)
Butternut: His feathers are that color
:Sunshine: He (was) so sweet and because he (was) yellow
Sweets: because she is sweet!
Deoxi rybose nucleic acid: Deoxi for short, that is what DNA stands for (science buff)

My Rooster is named Mr. Bill Birbiggle-bug
Bill -> My mom wanted this as a tribute to Bill Clinton (he's a breeder ;D)
Birbiggle-bug -> I thought it sounded as sweet as he is, and also I watched a Mike Birbiglia special the night before.
Mr. Bill--> he was getting beat up by my hen. Oh noooooooo!

I have a "Gimpy" too. Her REAL name is Sun, but we call her Gimpy, after she hatched her legs went crazy out sideways, her ankles were all bent and weird.
I used band-aids and tape all over her legs, and they came right, she walks perfectly fine, but the name stuck.

Her picture is in the 2010 BYC calendar - she's the little chick on the skateboard, that was right after her legs came right!

Gimpy has three sisters who hatched the same time as her, they are/were Sky, Moon and Star (RIP star - taken by a raccoon a few months ago)

I have a RIR we named Ruby, but my sisters Daughter is Ruby and they weren't impressed, so we call her Big Red, we changed her name to Scarlet, but that just never stuck.

Flopsy and Mopsy - Leghorn girls with huge floppy combs.

My group of Mille Fleur's - Kurnal Korn, Sweet Korn, Candy Korn and Pop Korn.

My two BO's are Daisy and Maggie, the old fashioned names just suited them.

My son's EE is Peep, because she was such a loud mouth as a baby, and our other EE is Sandra (my DH named her)

My sweet little Creamer (RIP) was a mutt, her mommy was one of the Leghorns, her daddy was the mille fleur bantam, and she was the color of coffee creamer.

Our JG rooster, Broken Toe, got his name 'cause when we got him at 2 days old, the end of his middle toe was hanging on by skin. We didn't know at the time that the adjacent toe was broke at what seems to be the joint, so it is bent really bad now (the bent end is floppy and clearly the joint isn't very functional). He is our top roo though.

Here's a pic of his foot (the middle toe of the back foot is amputated).

Fish-head, our goofy salmon Faverolle, got his name because as a chick his head always smelled like he stuck it in a freshly gutted trout.

It went away after we changed them to a growers feed, but the name stuck (as much as we tried to change it).

Rotis - he was a mean rooster and his name was short for Rotisserie. He is no longer with us (he kept tearing up hens!).
Gabby - on the drive home for the feed store she was gabbin' away...hence the name.
Pia - Short for Pain In the A**. She was a royal pain as a chick! She mellowed out once she matured and is a sweetheart now. We did not add the 'T' in the her name since it sounded mean to name a chicken Pita.

Frenchie - She was always exploring new things (very curious!), so DH named her Frenchie the Explorer. He said it sounds like it fits.
Bandit - she had a black band on her yellow beak as a chick. Now it all just blurs together.
Molly - DH likes the name.
Bessie - My niece named her since she is a mottled Java (with equal black and white) and our niece says she looks like a cow.

Most of our other chickens aren't named or we don't use them (some we can't tell apart from one another...yet anyway).
