Gelatin must be fairly easy to digest, I'd guess. It is made from collagen, which is an animal protein. And, unless it's jello dessert, that should be about all that's in it other than water.
Maybe the thread on suet and this one on protein could be combined.
The idea of mixing a high protein seed with gelatin seems like it would be a good one.

ETA: I took a moment to look it up. Typing in "Gelatins, dry powder, unsweetened" to the USDA National Nutrient Database shows that it is 85% protein.
