How do I get rid of a NASTY rooster???

Post on Craigslist or Freecycle. If someone doesn't come to get him, and you can't stand to put him down, call a good old country vet...he should be willing to help you. Of, course you can always "drop" him at night somewhere (since you do have him in a cage already), prob wouldn't last long, and he would be a nice dinner for an owl or some other predator in need of a dinner.

Hi i live in a city were most people dont keep roosters cokerals we call them every morning for the last few weeks it cookerdoos from 4am on to most of the day this bird is being kept in a small garden in a cage ready to be kiled by my polish neighbors apparently they do it slit throat and let in drain,i was wondering is this illegal please thank you this is the 4th victim in about a year i feel like freeing him but what would i do with it?plus there yard is locked off bye

I think that most places allow folks to process chickens humanely for their own consumption, if you have a neighbor who wants to do it you can probably just contact them and make your arrangements. It would be a much nicer way for it to go than to face predators and other dangers if you just let it loose, and more polite for your neighbors than to just leave it in their yard.

as others have said...Try to give him to soemone who will eat him (as you don't like him anyway)

But if you really are such a person that just couldn't live with yourself if you gave him to someone to eat than...I don't know - make a capon out of it :) Tho you will only be caring for a "pet" than, no use out of him...

Quote: Not always easy for the inexperienced to do, and not a guarantee the bird won't still crow or fuss. To be most effective it should be done on very young cockerels. There are lots worse things that can happen to a chicken than to be processed humanely and provide nourishment for a grateful family.

That nasty roo would be thrown right over the fence....into the dog run. Problem solved. We had an unpleasant dog once. Nothing we did helped. The feeling after we finally got rid of him was amazing. I'll never waste months trying to rehabilitate a nasty animal again.

I am not sure.... I have three I don't want any more.
They where hatched on my farm and I don't want anyone, ANYONE they go to to Butcher or hurt them. They are extremely beautiful. They are a cross between Road Island Red and Araucana. I call them Roadaconas. I don't want them because they are mean to my rooster I already have. They are nice to people including kids. Anyone Want them????? HELP!!!

In some cultures that's the norm for processing animals for consumption (I assume they're eating it).

If you break into their yard to steal the chicken and they catch you, that's trespassing at the very least. And what would you do with the rooster? It's no kinder to "let it go free" when it's a domesticated animal.
