My chickens continue to go in my neighbors yard. My neighbor has not said anything about it, but I’m afraid that my chickens will tear up her plants. They also wander too far from home. Any advice on keeping them out of my neighbors yard?

A bit more information, please. Is your yard fenced? Or is it one of those open neighborhoods where no one has fences defining their yards?

Keeping chickens confined without fences is nearly as impossible as trying to keep a cat confined to your property. But there are measures you can take if we know what we have to work with.

If you have a fence, you'll need to confirm that there's no gaps in or under it to allow them free access, and if that's not the issue and they're flying over, then it's either not high enough or you need to clip their wings. Many you-tube videos on the subject and probably forum posts here too; clipping their wings doesn't hurt when done as instructed and should keep them off balance enough to keep them on your side of the fence.

Unfortunately, we live in one of those neighborhoods where No one has fences

truthfully, you would be wise to address this, chickens can and will make a mess of flower beds or freshly planted vegetables. Even if you do not plan on using it, it is a good idea to have a set up where you can confine your chickens.

However, in your case, I would get a run build ASAP, not only for your neighbors protection but also for your chickens protection against dogs or other predators. I would go with a real run, around the coop.
